Although she has been lucky enough to receive medical care from prominent African American health care providers, Sydney is all too aware of the discrimination minority communities can experience when seeking medical care. She has spent a significant amount of time researching and shadowing medical care professionals while working towards her bachelor’s degree in community health. After graduation, she hopes to continue her medical education and develop additional research into the disparities in our healthcare system.

With this scholarship, I am eager to close out my undergraduate years and begin the medical school application process as the next step in my academic journey to becoming a physician.
