Emerson’s interest in storms led her to a unique research assistant role at the University of New Hampshire Lightning Research lab. While working towards her bachelor’s degree in physics she hopes to continue her work with research teams focusing on weather phenomena and tectonic activity. Eventually, she hopes to bring her love of physics to the next generation as a middle or high school science teacher.
“I am honored to receive the Marianna Brady PhD. Scholarship. This scholarship will allow me to continue my studies of physics at the University of New Hampshire with less financial strain on myself and my mother. This will help provide me opportunities to pursue a higher level of education in the future.”
Emerson is the daughter of Michael McGahey.
