Community Organizations Team Up To Go Green

Associa (AssociaOnline.com), the largest community association management company in North America,   launches a new national environmental initiative, Associa Green (AssociaGreen.com). While families and communities prepare to celebrate Earth Day, Associa Green’s kickoff events are being held throughout April in neighborhoods in the Seattle, Tampa, Austin and Washington, D.C. areas, in conjunction with a nationwide rollout in all Associa communities.

Associa’s kickoff events will showcase the company’s two signature programs, Associa Green HomeGrown and Associa Green RecyclingRoundups. Additionally, Associa will begin a social media fundraising campaign throughout the launch to support Keep America Beautiful, the country’s largest community improvement organization. For every “like” on Associa’s Facebook page or “follow” on Twitter, the company will donate $1 to Keep America Beautiful, with a goal to reach $10,000.

“Sustainability begins at home, with simple, daily choices and actions,” said Matthew McKenna, president and CEO, Keep America Beautiful. “Associa Green HomeGrown and RecyclingRoundups are perfectly aligned with our national mission to reduce waste and bring natural beauty to America’s communities, and we are truly thankful to Associa for its support.”

To demonstrate its commitment to increasing the environmental well being of   the communities it serves across the country, Associa has partnered with some of the nation’s biggest brands to establish these two   signature programs:

1-800-GOT-JUNK?
Shred-it
ValleyCrest Landscape Companies
Lowe’s

Hoping to make gardeners out of all association homeowners, Associa Green HomeGrown features expert-led sustainable landscape workshops with ValleyCrest Landscape Companies, North America’s largest integrated landscape company, in Austin, Tampa and the Washington, D.C. area, and with Lowe’s in Seattle. Everyone attending will receive gardening tool kits, wildflower seed packets and tomato-seeded grow stix. Even the youngest attendees are encouraged to go green, and will learn fun facts about sustainable living and take photos with Daisy, the program’s adorable ladybug mascot.

Associa Green RecyclingRoundups provides critical knowledge and resources to help protect the earth and underscore the importance of recycling. Everyone will receive earth-friendly products like reusable tote bags and have access to on-site recycling and shredding services from partner companies1-800-GOT-JUNK? and Shred-it. Homeowners are encouraged to bring a wide range of recyclable items to the events, including appliances, furniture, electronics and other household goods. For a complete list of accepted items, please download   this“What To Recycle” Tip Sheet.

“Home and community gardening and recycling are fun, easy ways to protect the   environment,” John Carona, Associa president and CEO, said. “Through Associa Green, we are helping our community homeowners live a greener   life…one that is good for them and for the earth.”

Beyond the April kickoff events, Associa will continue its eco-initiative by hosting Associa Green HomeGrown and RecyclingRoundups events at the local community associations it serves. For more information about Associa Green, visit AssociaGreen.com.
